Dandelion Festival to be held May 5

The 10th annual Dandelion Festival will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. May 5 in Rotary Park, 1565 East Second Ave.

This event will celebrate spring, honeybees, wild foods and organic land stewardship, featuring a May pole dance, live music, kids activities, educational classes, belly and hula dancing, healing dome workshops, vendors, local food, local merchandise from Dojo Bags, and dandelion-inspired beer, bicycle-powered lemonade and ice cream.

Proceeds will go to organic land stewardship practices and health for honey bees in La Plata County.

Also, on May 4, before the event, a wild food dinner will be held at 6 p.m. and herbalist Brigitte Mars will give a free talk at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Turtle Lake Refuge, 848 East Third Ave.
