I would like to thank all those that have written letters to the editor supporting the train.

I especially commend the letter sent by Melissa Strand where she points out how little pollution the train causes as opposed to pollution caused by population growth and traffic (“Hey, stop bashing our wonderful train,” Sept. 6).

Bottom line: The train is essential for the Durango and Silverton economies.

It is authentic, rare history and cannot be replaced.

It’s one of the reasons I love living in Durango.
